Getting Ready at Dromquinna Manor

One of the lovely things about having a Dromquinna Manor wedding is that so much of the day can happen right there on the estate.

Laura spent the morning getting ready in Blackberry Lodge with her bridesmaids and family, with Ruthanna Crowley on makeup and Laura Lou on hair. Her gorgeous florals were created by Best of Buds, while her wedding dress came from The White & Gold in Kinsale. Over in The Bolthole, John was getting ready with the lads in his Louis Copeland suit before everyone made their way into Kenmare.

Laura travelled to Holy Cross Church in Kenmare with Pristine Classics, where she and John were married by Fr. Michael Keohane, with Munster String Quartet providing the music for the ceremony.

Afterwards, we made our way back towards Dromquinna Manor. The plan had been to make the most of the gardens, waterfront and beautiful Kerry scenery for their wedding photographs.


The weather, naturally, had other ideas.


It was what we'd politely call a soft day, but it didn't dampen the spirits in the slightest.

Back to Dromquinna Manor


By the afternoon everyone was back at Dromquinna Manor in Kenmare, where Sax Appeal got the drinks reception going while guests settled in for the afternoon.


I was photographing alongside the brilliant Olga Dragon of SeaForest Films, capturing everything as it unfolded rather than dragging Laura and John away from their guests for hours on end. Because that simply wasn't what they wanted their wedding day to be about.

Their priorities from the very beginning were beautifully simple: marry each other, have proper moments with their family and friends and then have an epic wild party with all their favourite people because life is short.


And an epic party they got.


After dinner, Spring Break took over for the evening, kicking things off with Laura and John's first dance before filling the dance floor.

Rain or no rain, nobody gave a shite by that stage. And that, quite frankly, is exactly how a wedding should be.
