Wedding Photos in Dingle, Ireland but with a Vietnamese twist
Some love stories are written with an adventurous spirit in mind, so they are, and Vivian and Randy’s journey to Ireland was nothing short of that and then some. After meeting on Christmas Day in Oklahoma City ( isn't that a the best Christmas gift ever), their shared love of travel and exploration brought them to the beauty of Slea Head on the Dingle Peninsula for their cliff-top elopement and some truly epic elopement photos in Ireland.
With a passion for education, laughter, romance, and breathtaking scenery, they chose little old me, Sarah Kate Photography, to capture their Wild Atlantic Way wedding photos. And boy was I glad, because we had the best time.
Why am I always a blubbering mess when I meet two soulmates?
Their session was everything you’d imagine for Irish wedding photos, and sure look it, I had to include stunning views of the Atlantic Wild Atlantic Way, tender moments against the dramatic cliffs, plenty of goofing around, and just the right touch of adventure.
If you’re dreaming of your own cliff-top elopement photos or want to capture the magic of Ireland as your backdrop, let’s create something unforgettable. Because love this wild deserves to be remembered.
Dingle, Slea Head Elopement Photos by Sarah Kate Photography

Coumeenoole Beach: A showery & playful start
Our first stop was the picturesque Coumeenoole Beach, a favorite among couples looking for Slea Head couple photos. I arrived before the couple, and during a pretty epic rain shower but luckily for us it cleared pretty quickly, thanks be to baby Jesus.
With the tide rolling in, the scene was a mix of fun and awe as Vivian’s striking red áo dài, a traditional Vietnamese wedding dress, contrasted beautifully against the vibrant blues of the ocean. The playful waves kept us on our toes, poor Randy may have gotten wet, but their joy and connection shone through every shot (be still my heart). It was the perfect introduction to their cliff-top elopement adventure, in Ireland.

Dunquin Pier: Cliff-Top Wedding Photos in Kerry by Sarah Kate Photography
Next, we visited Dunquin Pier, an iconic spot for cliff-top elopement photography. It's dramatic cliffs, and sweeping views over the Blasket islands and A Fear Marbh created a breathtaking backdrop for their couple’s portraits. Both Are well known spots for wedding photos and we were lucky enough to have the best light.
Vivian and Randy’s easy affection shone through as they stood hand-in-hand, dwarfed by the immense beauty of Ireland’s coastline. The charm of the curving Dunquin Pier is perfect for couples seeking Wild Atlantic Way wedding photos that blend a stereotypical Irish landscape: Wild Seas, Rolling Green Fields & one of Ireland's most photographed Piers.
I really recommend a trip to the Blasket centre too if you're interested in history, culture and learning more about the Irish Language and life on the islands.

View Point Waymont: And then Star Wars entered the photography mix
Finally, we made our way to View Point Waymont, a location steeped in cinematic history as part of the Star Warsuniverse. The immense waves crashing below provided such a relaxing sound as we took in the stunning ocean views and chatted for ages, which I really enjoyed. Randy and Vivian really enjoyed soaking in the magic of the moment. As a couple photographer in Dingle, I couldn’t have asked for a more awe-inspiring setting to close our session.

Honeymoon Photos in Slea Head
From the shores of Coumeenoole to the cliffs of Dunquin and the cinematic charm of Waymont, Vivian and Randy’s photoshoot was a celebration of love, adventure, and Ireland’s unparalleled beauty. Their honeymoon session wasn’t just about capturing images; it was about creating memories that truly reflected their story & hopefully it wont be their last trip to Ireland.

FAQ: Planning Your Couple Shoot in Dingle
Why choose Dingle for an elopement or couple shoot?
Dingle offers some of Ireland’s most dramatic landscapes, from rugged cliffs like those at Dunquin Pier to serene beaches like Coumeenoole. It’s perfect for cliff-top elopements, intimate portraits, and creating stunning Wild Atlantic Way wedding photos. The area’s natural beauty and cinematic history make it a magical backdrop for your love story.
What time of year is best for an elopement photoshoot in Dingle?
Google will tell you, Spring and summer (April–September) provide the best chance for mild weather and vibrant greenery (but I'm going to be honest, it can be very very wet), while autumn offers warm golden hues and fewer crowds and is my favourite time of year to photograph. Winter sessions can be equally magical with moody skies and wild seas but may require flexibility due to unpredictable weather & a very early sunset.
Do we need a permit for photos at locations like Dunquin Pier or Coumeenoole Beach?
No permits are typically required for small photoshoots at these public locations. However, it’s always respectful to be mindful its a public space and other people will have access, I recommend to avoid peak times to preserve the serenity of your time together.
How much time should we set aside for a shoot?
Plan for at least 3 to 4 hours to capture a variety of locations and moments. This allows time to explore, take breaks (please bring snacks), and truly enjoy the experience. I recommend eating a big meal before your shoot as we will be doing a lot of running around.
What if it rains on our Couple Shoot?
What if it rains?
Rain is part of Ireland’s charm! Some of the most dramatic and intimate photos can happen with a light drizzle. We’ll work around the weather, and I always bring umbrellas just in case. Flexible planning ensures we’ll still capture incredible shots. rain should never be a deterrent for having beautiful photos, to be honest it rains most days here, I find it really adds to the moody, romantic drama of Irish landscapes. However, that doesn’t mean you need to get drenched - I recommend a transparent umbrella which will look good in photos and have the added bonus of keeping you dry.
