Small Intimate Wedding at the exclusive Dunowen House inWest Cork
For Stephanie and Cathal, having a big huge wedding was never on the cards! Dunown was the perfect choice of venue as it was located very close to Galley Head Light House, which Stephanie's Grandmother and Father both lived in, not only that, but its a wonderfully intimate and cozy luxury private rental house which can sleep up to 30 guests with stunning food too. So it was a win/win!
Stephanie and Cathal choose St Michaels Church in Rathbarry for their wedding ceremony with family, before the meandering drive up to Gallery Head lighthouse, which I might add, isn't for the faint hearted! Stephanie's uncle is the current Lighthouse keeper, so he was delighted to show us around. The views of the Wild Atlantic Way from the top of the lighthouse are amazing, over to Long Strand and beyond. It really made me emotional being up there, to think of all the strong family members who went before Stephanie and manned this lighthouse and here she was now celebrating her love story here!
Dunowen House - Intimate Wedding Venue near Clonakilty
If you're looking for a Clonakilty wedding venue, for a small wedding then you can't go wrong with Dunowen House! Situated near Ardfield, Clonakilty, it's 1km from the beautiful Sand Cove and not far from Long Strand, Galley Head lighthouse and Castlefreke. Noel Redding, bass guitarist with The Jimi Hendrix Experience and West Cork music legend, was the former owner here and you will see music memorabilia in abundance. Although the house is alot older than this, dating from the 1770's. The grounds are stunning and are private and scheduled, making it the perfect getaway for a destination wedding party or an elopement.
Dunowen’s current owners Kela & Stephen Hodgins have renovated these historic buildings since 2013 to create a laid back luxury hideaway that connects with the stunning coastal landscape and unique history!
