San Franciscan couple choose Kenmare to say 'I Do', a place close to both their hearts, and here's why....
Kerri and Martin, shared their first kiss during a thunder storm on a golf course in San Fransisco and if that isn't hallmark enough for you then check out their epic wedding, in the 5 star Sheen Falls in Kenmare, Co Kerry.
I spend far too much time explaining to Irish people what a rehearsal dinner is...
It's like an Irish day two, only the night before a wedding! And tis not for the faint hearted, as things can get pretty wild! Food and drinks were served in the Stables Restaurant in Sheen falls and Mundy, he of 'July' fame, had the crowd rocking until 3am I am told. The guests enjoyed scrumptious food and mingled. As for me, I was home in bed by 11pm, in preparation for an exiting wedding day the next day.
Bride and Groom Prep
Aw, the sweet chaos of wedding preparations! The nerves, the excitement, and of course, the inevitable hangovers from the rehearsal dinner. Camera Shy Martin was a trooper, soldiering on with just two photos. Way to make every shot count! To be fair he looks amazing in both so that's all we needed!
But Kerri, oh Kerri, taking it easy! She definitely was still on San Francisco time haha! Some people thrive in the calmness while others prefer a whirlwind of activity. You know what they say, different strokes for different folks! So, tell me more about this "super chill" morning of hers. Located in the cutest pink thatch cottage one could imagine, everyone got quietly ready. Mum lent her beautiful emeralds for her wedding day, which given the Irish location, seemed perfectly acceptable and it complemented her Savin dress down to a fine tee.
Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kenmare & Reception at Sheen Falls
Off we all plodded down to Holy Cross, en masse. Kerri got to use Sheen's Falls vintage car on the drive down which was epic. The Priest had flown in from San Francisco so officiate, and during the course of conversation we figured out, in a random twist of faith that he had lived with my Grand Uncle in America. Which made the hairs open my arms stand up and cry a little. It;s been a long time since he passed and I wasn't for one moment expecting that connection.
The kids all played their part, handing out the ceremony books, being ridiculously cute and not falling asleep during mass which is always a win if you ask me.
Followed by scrumptious dinner at Sheen Falls and trad music, which is always going to get the crowd going!
