A Castlemartyr Resort Wedding: A Big Day That Was Pure Craic, No Stress, and a Gallop or Two.....
New York Chic Meets Irish Madness
If ever there was a wedding that got it right, it was Meg and Kev’s..... a New York-meets-Cork celebration of love, laughter, and lashings of Guinness at the utterly gorgeous Castlemartyr Resort. As Ireland’s most relaxed editorial wedding photographer, I was absolutely thrilled to capture every candid, champagne-soaked moment. And let me tell ya... it was a vibe. Megs dress reminded me of Carolyn Bessette's stunning wedding dress.
The Venue: Castlemartyr Resort – Luxe With a Side of Laid-Back
Let’s just pause for a moment and appreciate the beauty of a Castlemartyr Resort wedding. Think rolling lawns, restored 18th-century manor vibes, and a fountain garden ceremony straight out of a Jane Austen adaptation… if Jane Austen had an open bar and the Bentley Boys playing bangers.
Meg got ready in the Bridal Suite (hello natural light and chaos of five bridesmaids, mammy moments and makeup brushes flying), while Kev and the lads had pints in Ballincollig before heading over to Castlemartyr in what can only be described as vague organisation. Sure isn’t that half the fun?
The Ceremony: Outdoor I Do’s & Tears (the Happy Kind)
The ceremony took place at the back fountain gardens, the kind of spot that makes your heart skip a beat. Marian Uí Drisceoil led the vows under soft July sun, and not a dry eye in sight. It was heartfelt, it was emotional, and it was followed swiftly by Guinness and Aperol Spritz.... a very sound move, if I do say so myself.
The Reception: Cocktails, Speeches & Throwing Shapes ‘til 3am
The drinks reception spilled out into the gardens and into the Knight’s Bar, a fab setup for candid mingling and the Cork/Tipperary Hurling match if that's what you're into. Dinner and dancing took place in the Capel Suite Ballroom (those chandeliers, lads), and the speeches kicked off with heartfelt words from both dads, a cracking best man toast, and Kev himself nearly setting the place off with laughter. Oh, and fair play to Meg, she nailed hers too!
